Colourful Little Market Bags

In honour of our upcoming trip I made all the girls a little market bag to tote around

Isn't this bug material super cute?

I added a pocket to the outside for collecting sea-shells, rocks or whatever else might need collecting.

... and beacause I enjoyed making them so much, I made an extra one (yes, that is 4 in total) for a friend at Jessica's school who has a birthday today.

The Messenger Bag

Yes, I am still posting on Gifts I have made for Christmas...

That's how long it has taken me to get my act together.

I wanted to make my Sweet Sister something really special, something from my heart, something that was thoughtful and would show her how much I love her.

I found such a gift over at Blue Bird Baby's blog (which is possibly the most inspirational day to day blog around). It was the perfect gift, and perfectly suited to her.

I lined the inside of the Messenger bag with a creamy material with a fine flower print to balance the heavy khaki on the outside.

It was a bit of a gamble as my sis wouldn't usually be into flower prints. She loved it though, and it was a good balance so all was good in the end.

Some detail I added to her bag. Antique cotton lace. Her name embroidered on a scrap of fabric and stitched to the body of her bag.

(This is a pretty poor shot - something to do with the light-I think, but you get the idea)

Serious about swimming....

Swimming has been the predominant theme in our house for the month of October so far.... The littlest (?) member of our household has been so excited about her pending swimming lessons (which started today). Of course, last night when I got home with the various bits that go with swimming lessons (e.g. the swimming cap and goggles) her excitement was completely uncontained... the cap and goggles was worn for dinner, bath, and to bed (only after much begging and bribery would she take it off).

So, with all this lovely swimming gear a gal is in need of somewhere to put it, and that is what I was doing last night.....

 

A little drawstring bag was created.....

Upon waking in the morning, Miss Jessica was delighted with the little bag that mommy made to keep her swimming bits in...

Not quite completed, as I would like to add some detail! Hopefully next week when it is time for her next swimming lesson, it will be a lot prettier!
